Camp

Participation in a Jewish summer camp can be an important part of the formation of a Jewish identity. Some young Jews start with a day camp and then progress to a sleep-away camp. Sinai Temple Religious School supports these activities in several ways.

In cooperation with the Champaign Urbana Jewish Federation, Sinai often holds a Camp Fair in late fall.

The camp fair starts with an info session “For Parents Only” This parent meeting covers the importance of summer camp, how to choose the right camp for your child, and how to afford overnight camp. (Hint: There are scholarships available…) Talk with Rabbi Alan Cook, Education Director Rabbi Jody Cook, or Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation Director for more information.

After this, representatives from many regional Jewish overnight and day camps will be on hand to show you what they have to offer. Local students will also share their camp experiences, and some very special announcements will be made. Don’t miss it!!
