Youth Group (CUTY)

Champaign-Urbana Temple Youth (CUTY) is a youth group organization for all East Central Illinois Jewish teenagers in the 8th-12th grades. CUTY functions as a local youth group and is part of two regional youth groups (Missouri Valley and NFTY CAR – Chicago Area Region). The national organization for our youth group is NFTY, National Federation of Temple Youth, which is the youth group for Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). Sinai Temple supports a youth group for all Jewish teenagers in the central Illinois area. One does not need to be a member of Sinai Temple to participate in CUTY events. There is a small CUTY membership fee that helps to offset the cost of local programming and covers our dues to NFTY. While local events are open to 8th graders, regional and national conventions and programs are for 9th-12th graders.

Youth Group provides our teenagers with an opportunity to interact with Jewish teens throughout Illinois, the Midwest, and the United States. The group meets for the purposes of educational, religious, social, and community activities. There are leadership opportunities for students at the local and regional levels. For most Jewish teens, being a member of a Jewish youth group contributes to a strong Jewish identity and connection to the community. We look forward to your involvement in CUTY!
